In the face of the imminent destruction of the planet Krypton because the planet was very close to its red giant starand the abuses of its inhabitants, Jor-El and his wife Lara Lor-Van decide to save their little son Kal-El out of the planet. To preserve his species, Jor-El seizes Codex, an object that has the genetic code of all Kryptonians and introduces it into the body of his son, whom he later sends to Earth on a ship. General Zod, knowing that the main reason for the destruction of the planet was due to the bad leadership of the high Kryptonian council, decides to attack them and take power accompanied by several military, his goal is to seize the Codex and allow only a few families that he considers worthy survive. Jor-El refuses to give the Codex to Zod so he kills him. Later, Zod and his followers are defeated by the authorities and sent to the Ghost Zone, but before being locked in, the general promises Lara that he will find his son. Days later, as predicted by Jor-El, Krypton is destroyed and its inhabitants die with it.
On Earth, little Kal-El is found by Martha and Jonathan Kent who decide to adopt him by naming him Clark Kent. The couple realizes that their son has several super powers so they help him control them, but knowing that Clark could be seen as a phenomenon they decide to keep their powers and secrets secret by making him a reserved boy with others. Before the increasing doubts of the young man, Jonathan tells him how they found him and shows him the ship in which he came, being aware since then that he does not belong to this planet. Years later, the Kent are surprised by a dangerous tornadoOn a highway, Martha and Clark manage to flee, but Jonathan is trapped in the car while trying to rescue his pet dog, which later manages to get to safety, however when the tornado nears where Jonathan is, Clark tries to go to save his father, but he asks him not to do it, because to rescue him would know the existence of his powers and knew that the world was not ready to know, this way and before the helpless look of Clark and Martha , Jonathan dies being absorbed by the tornado.
On Ellesmere Island in Canada, scientists and military find what appears to be a ship that emits certain radio waves, the strangest thing is that this ship has been buried under the ice for more than 18,000 years. The story of what happened is so incredible that nobody believes Lois, including his boss Perry White who refuses to publish an article related to the subject, so the journalist filters the news on the internet. Lois continues with her investigation to discover who saved her until she finds out that it is Clark Kent, the latter tells him of the sacrifice made by his father to keep the secret so Lane decides not to reveal his existence to anyone.
